The textile design is adapted from Camillo Gogli’s Sulla fina anatomia degli organi centrali del sistema nervoso (1885). Golgi, an Italian biologist and pathologist, is known for his discovery of a cellular organelle in 1898, which was later was named the Golgi Apparatus. Golgi developed the “black reaction”, which was a process which allowed neurons to be stained in tissue samples. This textile depicts the nerve cells in a dog’s olfactory bulb.
