Environmental & Social Impacts

During the summer of of 2023, the Studio started using new environmentally responsible mailing envelopes. Made in the USA, the envelopes are made with 100% recycled paper and are compostable. We know small changes can make huge impacts. For our wholesale customers, we mail in recycled boxes/re-used packing material that was destined to go to the landfill to reduce our carbon footprint.

Additionally - the stamps we use for our boxes and other items are purchased from The Stamp Maker, a female-owned and family-operated business located just outside Detroit, Michigan.

Where possible, we try to purchase from less represented groups and/or small businesses within the industry.

Since 2012, the Studio has been donating to various charities, raising money for local groups, or supporting other initiatives. As of 2024, we started listing them down below. Thank you very much for your continued support!

2026 Impact:
Once again, we sold at SICB in Portland, OR in January. So many great restaurants and history to see in the city, but unfortunately we only had time for a few sites to visit.

This month we choose two organizations to donate to:
1) $150 was donated to New Avenues/SMYRC (Sexual & Gender Minority Youth Resource Center). This organization fosters a safe, harassment-free space for LGBTQIA2S+ youth ages 13-24. They provide basic resources such as food, clothing, hygine supplies, safer sex supplies, and gender affirming garments. In addition, they provide free community events, field trips, affinity groups, and counseling. Find out more at SMYRC.

2) $150 was donated to AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science). Now more than ever, science in America is at risk. Research funding has been cut, grants are being cancelled, and misinformed policies are abundant. AAAS is one of the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific societies who mission helps combat these issues. Their mission is to advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all. Learn more about this organization through the link above.

2025 Impact:
Blue Beehive had the pleasure of working in Atlanta, GA at the SICB conference along with her booth-mate (and sister-in-law!!!), One Inch Squid Studios. In our free time, we were able to visit a few sites in the city, including the Martin Luther King Jr National Park.

There has been many changes to our county so far this year and we continue to donate to under represented and/or organizations that we feel have a large impact to their community or multiple communities.

Organizations donated to:
1) $150 went to The King Center in Atlanta, GA, donated July 2025
Donation to help programs at the King Center.
2) $150 went to Lost-N-Found Youth in in Atlanta, GA, donated July 2025
Donation to this organization helps LGBTQ+ youth off the streets and on a road to a secure and stable future. Many youth are rejected by their families after coming out and on the street, they face continued discrimination. Donations help the Atlanta shelter as well as provide the youth with skills & support to live independently.

SSAR/HL
In July 2025, Blue Beehive Studio donated 3 pieces of jewelry to SSAR/HL (Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles, Herpetologists’ League) for their live silent auction that was held July 12th in St. Paul, MN. The money raised will help students with 2026 travel costs to attend this meeting.

2024:
$150 was donated June 29th, 2024 to the Grand Rapids Pride Center. This helps with a variety of services, including transportation to health care appointments and/or employment, as well as food and drink at their youth support services.

* To save space, the Studio is no longer posting pictures of the donation receipts. If you would like a copy of the donation confirmations, please email the studio. Thank you!
